surprise visitor...

so last friday we had a surprise visitor. when vince got home, we went out in the backyard and there was this tiny little crazy thing chirping away and chasing me... it was a baby chicken!!!! what the heck?! oregon is crazy. the little guy followed me everywhere and kept trying to cuddle with me and he sat right in vince's lap when we sat down! vince was laughing but i was really a little wierded out. i mean, i've never been around a chicken. last i heard, people eat those, right? vince ran out to buy bird feed. and after our little visitor hung out and got spoiled rotten, vince and dylan realized that he came from the neighbors chicken coop and brought him back home. here's a few pics from the excitement.

our big trip...

alas, once again i am long overdue for a post on my blog. it's not like i have been up to anything lately. that is doggy sarcasm. a lot has happened since my last birthday post and i have lots to tell and even more pictures to share.

for those of you that don't know, vince and i have moved to portland, or. we have been here for 1 week and it has been sunny the whole time! i really don't know what all the other dogs are talking about when they say it rains all the time. i wish i could tell you lots of cool stories about all the places we visited on the way from asheville, nc to portland but... i swear we didn't stop anywhere. we drove (i say we but you know who really drove the whole way... sucker) 45hrs in 3 days. i don't think i have ever been so bored in my whole life. i did get to tick off a few states on my state tracker though. i'm up to 35 states now! marking my territory everywhere. next up is world domination! if only i were a dominant kind of dog. in reality i'm a bit of a lover... not a fighter :). so below i have posted some pictures. some are from the week before we left - spending good quality time with my best friends, some are from our drive across and then some are from the past week here in portland. so far we have gotten out for a couple of mountain bike rides. it's kind of pretty here.

happy birthday to me!

that's right, yesterday i turned 2! vince was gone for a week and i couldn't go because he had to fly but he made it home in time for my birthday. we had a little gathering of my friends, played some fetch and ate cupcakes and brownies. pretty darn sweet. here's a few pics from the evening.

my fecal is negative! ok... so i don't really know what that means but everyone seemed to think that was a good thing during my first big check up at the brett the vet’s office yesterday. i had to get shots which was kind of a bummer but in return I got cookies so I guess i’m cool with it. but that’s enough about the vet. well one more thing... i weighed in at a whopping 48.7 pounds.

what i really want to post about is easter. easter is pretty cool. especially if it means that you get to go camping. i still don't get the relation between easter bunnies and eggs though. why not chickens? ohh well. so this past weekend we went camping in pisgah national forest. wendy, vince, maddie, cody and i. all in the camper! we did some hiking, running, biking, climbing and relaxing. here are some pictures from the weekend. cody, maddie and i ran around in the woods all weekend.

we spent the weekend mountain biking in jim thorpe, pa and ringwood, nj. i must say, we were pretty dissapointed with the trails. not a lick of singletrack! but ringwood, nj was a very nice area - minus all the ticks. they should change the state slogan from the garden state to the tick state. holy cow. i had at least dozen of those annoying little things. ohh well. vince said not to worry because i'm vaccinated - whatever that means.

"camping" weekend

it has been 2 whole months since i have posted anything on here. i'm sorry! we have not been traveling as much lately - which has been pretty nice i must say. don't get me wrong, i love to sprawl out in the back seat as vince drives me to somewhere new for me to smell and mark. it's just nice to sleep in my own bed sometimes - and when i am feeling generous, i even move over a bit so that vince can fit in the bed too!

this past weekend we went "camping" with cody and wendy in pisgah national forest near brevard, nc. the quotations are because we used wendy's camper which kind of takes some of the "roughing it" out of camping. but there is a heater so i am not complaining at all! while out there we did some mountain biking, hiking, and relaxing by the fire. before we left, we spent some time working around wendy's. while wendy trimmed the horses feet, maddie, meg and i ate hoof! there are all kind of good smells and tastes out there!

weekend with hiking and horses!

this weekend was great. we went for a nice hike along the laurel river with wendy and 2 of her dogs - maddie and cody. i pretty much wrestled and swam with maddie the whole time. then today we went horse back riding - well vince and wendy rode the horses, i stayed on terra firma where i prefer to hang out with maddie and cody. wendy rode sam and vince rode reno. those guys are huge!! here are a few pics from today with the horses.

the adirondacks...

holy cow... we just had a crazy weekend in the adirodacks. i will probably sleep for the next 2 days! vince and i got to the dacks friday evening, checked in to the roostercomb inn, then did a warm up hike up roostercomb mountain. then saturday was our huge day. we climbed 3 peaks, covering 15 miles and it took us just over 7 hours! we climbed hedgehog, lower wolf jaw and upper wolf jaw peaks. that eveing we were exhausted. we sat under the porch during a thunderstorm and listened to the rain as vince played guitar. ohh yea... nope, i'm not afraid of the thunder. wierd huh? sunday we did a short hike up little owls head and relaxed on the summit for the morning. we then took the essex ferry into vermont and finished the day by swimming in the white river near white river junction. it was a killer weekend! we took soooo many pics that i had to upload most of the pics here (http://picasaweb.google.com/vmazzuca/SeppiSAdirondackAdventure#). here are some of my favorites from the weekend!

hey y'all! it's been waaaaaaay too long since i my last update. i know all of you have been checking this site hourly for the past couple of weeks to see what i have been up to. sorry, i have been a busy busy dog. so instead of just telling you what we have been up to, i thought i would give you a little bit of a photo journal. as you will see, we have been doing some pretty cool things, like hiking at sand rock (alabama), visiting my favorite swimming holes, climbing, mountain biking, and much more. i even had my first little paw pad injury. no biggie. i bounced back and am ready to go. the only pics that i do not have here is of our tubing trip on the 4th of july. i will have those up soon. tubing rules!

- while driving from chattanooga to birmingham, we decided to take a hike at sand rock. vince was saying something about wishing he had his climbing shoes. i say go barefoot. wuss!

- when brian came to visit, we went climbing at rumbling bald and then did one of may favorite things of all... swimming! there are so many great swiming holes in nc.

- evan and stephanie came to visit for the 4th of july weekend. we had a huge day on saturday. we went rock climbing in the morning and then drove to bent creek and went mountain biking!

- my sad face... blown out paw pad while mountain biking. it's all good though... just toughening 'em up!

- and now it is time to catch up on some much needed rest.

so since my last update, we've been quite busy. i got to lay around and watch the international road cycling championships in philly, go for a trail run in lancaster, we drove 10 hrs to get back home, and had a birthday. not just any birthday, but my first birthday! i'm not quite sure why those only happens once a year. i think everyone would be much happier if we had birthdays all the time. as you can see in my pic above... we went mountain biking for my birthday! it was awesome! we rode with thomas and porter. vince says we will be doing more and more of that soon now that i am getting old enough. after the biking, i got to tase a little bit of cherry icee. super good! then i got a nice dinner with fresh grilled chicken in it. again... not sure why we don't do that more often. after dinner... i passed out :)

so it's been a few days since my last update. vince has been working a lot so i will have to admit... it's been kinda boring! but we did get one day at seneca rocks in west virginia which is awesome. we drove down and met evan and stephanie, camped out, then climbed for most of the day. since then we have traveled from baltimore and dc, up to new jersy (not my favorite), and are now in philly. yesterday we went on a run along the d and r canal in princeton. even though it was jersey, it was still pretty cool. we saw the rockingham house - which vince said was george washington's headquarters. i dont know what that means but there were some great bushes to pee on there! here's a few more pics for ya'll.

my first post!

so i guess this blog should actually be called travels with vince, since i (seppi) am the one doing the blogging. vince is way too lazy to do something as "hip" as keeping a blog. i on the otherhand, am the definition of hip. my plan is to update this thing whenever vince gets a hotel with wifi and happens to wander off long enough for me to sneak onto his computer. bear with me though, the folks at dell really need to make these keyboards more paw friendly. which leads me to my first topic... why in the world do humans waste all that energy pushing 2 buttons at once to make the first letter of each sentence really big? i do not have the time nor have i fugured out what other dang button to push to make the letters really big.ohh well...

what this blog is really about is our travels. i hope to share our adventures as we bounce up and down the east coast. we have already been on the road for a few months so i may go back and tell you about some of the cool things we have done and hopefully share some pics too! my first pic here is a map that shows most of the places we have already been. tiring just to look at huh? by my last count, i have marked 20 states already!! that's right, just got out of the car and peed in the open. bet very few of you human blog keepers can say that! and i'm not even 1 yet! and just so everybody knows, i overheard vince talking on the phone and guess what he said?! he said that my birthday is coming up. yup on june 8th i will officially (by the power of my ofiicially guestimated made up birthday) be 1. yup. june 8th. just so you know. well, i'm off to sleep a bit. then we may go for a trail run at great falls state park - we are currently in tysons corner, va.
